The origin of the Turkish word for mother, “Anne,” is connected to Jesus’s grandmother. Becase Jesus was speaking from the cradle, he was using language from birth—he was not taught by his parents; rather, they were learning from him. Unlike ordinary parents, they did not teach him their names. As a result, Jesus called his mother “Anne,” because his mother herself was calling her mother “Anne.”

(In ancient cultures, usually there was no such ridiculous idea that calling people, even parents, by their names was disrespectful. For instance in Hebrew literature there are examples where children call parents by their names. Also in Ancient Greece and Rome it was normal. However it is not clear if there is a confusion and Mary was calling his mother by “Anne” or it was her special name.)
