Phantom time theory (Wiki) is proposed by Heribert Illig and considered to be totally conspiracy according to academia. It proposes that at the year of 614 AD multiple authorities agreed on skipping calendar by 297 years. And fabricating 297 years of fake history. And if this were not to happen this year would be 1728 instead of 2025. First published around 1990s however publications made in German and failed to gain mainstream attention so far.
There are similar but way more drastic propositions like New Chronology by Anatoly Fomenko. Which all considered as pseudohistorical theories by believers of mainstream history teachings. Even though it is known that history was severly manipulated all the time, mainstream academia and religious people regardless of the religion and history is biggest religion intertwined with all other religions, still any skepticism discarded without much of an consideration. Although these theories are pretty wild and seems like most propably fiction. Especially New Chronology by Anatoly Fomenko. Mainstream history is a similar situation. Because despite it is the fact that it was mostly written fiction and manipulations of real events there wasn't much of a debunking at all. It is like, would you believe British Empire or Heribert Illig or Anatoly Fomenko. I don't know about these guys but when you use them within a same sentence with British Empire they sound really trustworthy.
Newton is a decent case. Whom all of his work regarding history and religion confiscated by British Empire and some published in recent times. Probably after taking out anything that sounds like “pseudohistorical”.
It is something really hard to comprehend and I am not really able to think about it but I feel like it shouldn't be hard to verify based on Islamic history if this is true for various reasons. This theory sounds too far-fetched especially beause for radiocarbon dating 297 years is too long of a time. But radiocarbon dating measurements actually calibrated based on objects considered to be good references. And I remember issue about lack of references in Arabian Peninsula. I really cannot comprehend this atm I am out of focus.
It is especially coincides with Hijri calendar. Like did Arabs confused because of this and decided to create their own calendars? It is even a possibility that Hijri calendar wasn't even based on moon but because of discrepancy that coincided with some ratios interpreted as a moon based calendar. A possibility according to me based on my total ignorance though. Or were they confused and subtracted 297 years which made the discrepancy to be totalled to 600 years. I mean maybe they didn't even had a distinct calendar at all. Imagine a trade caravan returns and they say we learned that Romans added 300 years to calendar. What happens? They substract 300 years from their calendar to fix the issue :D There are actually solid reasons to consider this. Jesus is special according to Quran but Mohammed is just messenger. This is exactly the case according to mainstream understanding of Quran and there is no variance. There is no reason to make calendar begin from the date of their migration and most importantly they would more likely to use mainstream calendar rather than inventing theirs. My brain gives error. I am not even used to think historical events in a strong chronological fashion. And because of the possibilities of how everything can be wrong and how everything that looks like right can also be misinterpreted, it is really frustrating to think about think I think most people would be confused without even being aware what they are confused about.
It is really hilarious that there is a theory that claims 297 years missing and the gap between Hijri and Gregorian calendars are just double of this claim. It is currently 1447 Hijri. It is lunar calendar but there is no reason to think it was historically the case. If they subtracted 297 years at 614 AD it is 317 if they continue according to lunar year from that year on. 2025 - (614 + 297) = 1114 solar years = 1148 Hijri years. 317 + 1148 = 1465. It is off by 18 years. At 640 CE or 19 AH it seems like both calendar starts from the same day or just few days off. Maybe that was the time the switch happened and hilariously it is at time of reign of Umar ibn al-Khattab who believed to made calendar reforms. Which is a bit tooo much to be coincidence. Quote from wiki: “In 638, his fourth year as caliph and the seventeenth year since the Hijra, he decreed that the Islamic calendar should be counted from the year of the Hijra of Muhammad from Mecca to Medina.” To avoid any misunderstanding I should emphasise it is not the case that they weren't using lunar cycles before but they were keeping track of years relatively not distinctively from Roman calendar. A year is obviously a solar year. Lunar cycles are only used because of practical necessity. It is not like seasons follow lunar cycles when you use lunar calendar. So it it pretty ridiculous to use lunar cycles to keep track of years. Although I am really confused by calendar calculation it seems like some calculations are flawed. Should think this with more clear head. Since when a months begins depends on a lunar cycle it just doesn't make sense like they can't start from middle of the lunar month at the time of reform. But still which month is the beginning of year probably not bound to anything and they may decide which peak shape of moon is the beginning of lunar month from various peaks that close to first thay of that solar month. Also they may be retrospectively recalculating and adjusting calendar in later periods so my brain cannot really comprehend this. Every 34 year beginning of each calendar approximate. In the year of 966 CE. According to an online converter first days are exactly first days of first months. Although it may be off by few days. Thinking about this seems like waste of time. It is really hard to since when Arabs started keeping track of years independently. And when did retrospective calculations made based on assumptions. Not because it is hard to keep track of years but at that time thinking like they are living in 50 meanwhile other thinks it is 680 or something like that would be really absurd to them. However with the rise of literacy around the era when they refer as golden age it is different. But in the literature there are hadiths about fixing the calendar. It may be not necessarily too late when they switch keeping track of years because of the idea of that is the correct way proposed by God. Especially because the speculated manipulation coincides with life of prophet, it is possible that they considered it is as an issue when they come to realize it. If it was the case of course. The measures taken to fix the issue later possibly exaggerated.
Obviously this should be probably wrong. But I can imagine various reasons for Muslims, British and other Europeans to hide it. They say based on astronomical events it is straightforward wrong.
History is not like engineering. If this is true. Especially after some time they would find a way to sort out events without much of a questioning. They would definitely too shy to claim they cannot sort things out. I mean why did they become historian if they can't even sort out historical events. And actually historically history was written by elites and authorities. They would actually amazed by 300 years of space to fill without any known obstacles.
How much of the history written in colonial period debunked later? Probably not much and plus they destroyed or hid all kind of evidence that conflicts with history they wrote. I mean British pretty much was controlling the world.
So if this is true basically Mohammed lived around 3-4th century which is an actually exists as independent claim. By the way there is no possibility on earth that actually the word pronounced and interpreted as Mohamed in Quran actually pronounced as so. Although how it is actually pronounced doesn't really matter. He moved deeper into Arabian Peninsula probably fleeing from Rome. Later Umayyads probably fabricated a new history. They are famous with nationalism. Although they don't last long still today because of how Europeans wrote the history others also treated events happened in that order.
To give very simple example. It is believed that surahs in Quran received in a distinct order then how composed today. But this is not the case in the early Quran manuscripts. And total fiction despite still believed as so because of the side literature. And Quran manuscripts are countless. If there were Quran manuscripts dating earlier periods than when Mohammed believed to be lived. Europeans just hide or manipulate calibrations. I don't think Europeans academics are even allowed to publish anything that conflicts with mainstream Islamic view. Muslims actually believe only Quran protected by Allah for sure. On the paper. Yet this is not the practice.
If this is true it is possible that Muslims subtracted 300 years from the actual year. Because when this happens they hear about Romans changing the calendar by 300 years but it is not something that reflected at the Middle East. So basically they assume the number of current year was already increased 300 years. So the gap between Roman calendar and theirs totals to 600~. And after this modification and only after this modification they start keeping track of years independently from others. It should be a coincidence that Umar had calendar reform just at 618. Only 4 years after 614 (Claimed date when 297 years added.). Well, this doesn't sound right. He should be doing it at 915~ :D. It is really confusing.
The crazy thing is according to story of seven sleepers. They stayed in their cave for 300 years. :D At least it is currently understanded as so. Did they really stay in the cave for 300 years. Or they were hiding for few days and when they were out they find out 300 years have had passed. It may sound impossible but because they are on escape and they are not familiar with environment it may be possible. I mean at least sounds less of a miracle than the original story. I am not saying miracles cannot happen. But sometimes there may be less miraculous explanations. Although this story is very old. Still funny coincidence or maybe it is a real artifact. I don't really think it is actually correctly understood. But obviously this is a real story. It seem like not possible to happened at 614 because believed to be very old story and mentioned in holly texts but holly texts were continuously interpreted and it was a common practice to find out there were things happened in the future was already written in texts. It was never the case that they were thinking they were really able to understand Quran. It is only after British colonial period people are really confused due to extreme Arabization efforts. Actually according to Islamic literature modern Muslims are even more confident in their understanding than the prophet. Obviously it is possible that understanding was improved over time but even according to Islamic literature even the prophet wasn't able to fully understand the Quran. And Christian sources reports 200 years which is wrong if this story is an artifact. And probably placed by Islamic influence.
There are claims of people living over 300+ years in that time period. Although I didn't compared such claims with different periods. Simply after 1000 AD it is uncomparably less likely for people have such claims. Weird thing is claims in Islamic literature mapped to 650-700. Even though those people were thinking they lived more than 300 years according to Gregorian calendar. But claims from Africa, Egypt and Mesapotamia mapped to 900-1000. This distinction is very weird. And really questions whether this can be really true.
Claims goes by according to astronomical observations this theory is wrong. I am not saying it is not the case but this is really confusing. Becuase it is possible that when calendars are mapped to each other historically it is possible that events from 300-600 China mapped to 600-900 which makes every observation mentioned for 600-900 totally accurate.
Although I cannot assess how likely this is to be true meanwhile it seems like it should be wrong because everybody claims based on astronomical events recorded. However I didn't confirmed such claims by myself and I am not sure I will ever do. It is not like history is not fabricated anyway.
The extremely interesting thing is the discrepancies between radiocarbon dates and acheological dates seems like changes regionally. Which is very confusing. It doesn't seem like there is a discrepancy in one direction. But seems like in many occasions carbon dates gives younger ages than expected. I am sleep deprived and also really wasted and I feel like an idiot when I think about this stuff everything seems really confusing.
Videos about Anatony Fomenko's New Chronology
Not that I really had much of a interest in the history before but I think I am totally done with history. I mean not logically but I lost my interest that wasn't already much before. There is something I know very very crazy and I didn't write anyhwere in this website because it seemed like too big of a spoiler :D. The fact that it is not realized despite how clear it is, makes everything questionable.
