Enginar is the Turkish word for Artichoke. (Considered loanword from Ancient Greek. Probably not very accurate.)
The name Enginar is pretty interesting. The word for pomegranate in Turkish is "nar", and this name likely refers to its content: countless pieces of fruit inside. Engi+nar is also probably similar, as you can imagine.
Artichoke is pretty much pronounced as "ardı+çok". “Çok” means many in Turkish. “Ardı" can relate to how leaves are placed over each other consecutively. Actually the word for consecutively in Turkish is “art arda”.
These words were likely artificially adjusted, or may be we can call instead enginared, possibly under the influence of texts like the Quran.
