Language deprivation experiment conducted by Emperor Akbar at around 1582. Different sources mentions 12 to around 30 participants thaken as a baby. Pairing with mute caregivers pronounced in sources. It is likely each caregiver were paired with 3 childs. And only 20~ of them survived. Each pair likely resided seperately especially as a implementation of a safe-guard against diseases spread through close contact.
From the context of language deprivation experiment done by Akbar Shah it is obvious that at that time believers of various religions believed that their langauge will be the one babies will be talking to. This is over time forgotten because results didn't fit expectations. Today completely forgotten. Also transparency and safety of literature regarding this experiment is really amazing. Similar experiments done in Europe in similar times and either no mention of results just gossips or babies die and not much information. But in the case of Akbar Shah's result is publicly observed and people from all religions participated. It was really something big for its time. And because it is overly reported that kids were in extremely anxious we can understand that experiment was likely authentic. Still results are not relevant because their caregivers teached them sign language. At that time it doesn't seem like authenticty of experiment really questioned but it is claimed Akbar Shah was ill-intented. And sure probably he was. Religions were big problem for his Empire and he didn't put all those effort for nothing. Although it is possible that he was curious. He possibly intentionally overlook caregivers teaching babies sign languages if not designed so. Last thing he would want be that babies speaking a new language and another possible problem for him. But maybe it was just to resolve the issue rather than manipulation. Shortly after the experiment he founds his religion but some academics consider this a rather a new interpretation of existing religions in order to unite all religions rather than a new religion.
I have to lay out the crazy possibility that those childs later start speaking slightly or drastically different languages (Especially if different groups of childs held in different tents which was likely the case.). And they later become prophetic figures in different parts of India which would really explain existance of various langauges in India. A crazy possibility that I can't really comprehend. I am hoping to find something in Max Müller's works regarding this. At the beginning children were in extreme shock, as described in all sources, to extent that possibly they weren't even able to talk and because they were multi lingual (sign language and the language they used in small group). It is even possible that they would think people would be using sign language instead of verbal languages. Beside this they were probably especially scared by foreign sounds. Something modern humans finds exciting. But in their case it was probably little bit tooo exciting. Which caused Indians who took them as prophets to stop replacing their existing languages immediately.
I refer it as crazy possibility not because it is inherently crazy but to relate its impression on you. Back than this was something people really took seriously. Especially for the people of the India. Similar experiments in Europe resulted in concealment of results or maybe even in masaccering of children. But at that time truth was defitinely valued in India (Rather the vast regition the includes today India, that includes Pakistan and Afghanistan…). At least according to Max Muller whom emphasize it to great extent in his work “INDIA: WHAT CAN IT TEACH US?”. I think Max Müller's emphasis on this greatly influenced by impact of this language experiment. Becuase in other examples there is no such outcome observed. Even Christians are almost proud of so-called crusficiation of Jesus and there are crazy stories about this claimed event that only and idiot can believe. Though at the end there aren't really many Christians and the ones probably don't really embrace this stuff. Beside there are many other language deprivation experiments where results are obviously not respected and or kept as hidden and there are other Jezus like figures which are not respected to level we don't even know their name or cannot assert who they are with certainty. (Although the case for those kids are also similar. It may be also result of intentional British cencorship.) If this supposed outcome is true what happened in India is exceptional. Also regardless of this overall civilization level of Akbar, his Empire and India at that time definetely does not exists today where world mostly governed by clowns who does not give any respect to personal liberties. The whole world is nothing more than a circus. Although it sems like there are catches especially in terms of slavery but for that time it can be speculated it was hard to enforce rule of absolute no-slavery. This is kinda big of a catch though. It seems like there were efforts to restrict extent and method of slavery it is possible that British colonial writers could have downplayed these reforms to emphasize their own reforms. Some sources mention abolition of slavery but if this was really total abolition of slavery it is not clear. But considering sources also mentions he also limited polygamy. It is a likely case that slavery was totally abolished. Especially Indian sources claims it was the Akbar who abolished slavery rather than British. And some new sites even claim ongoing misinformation campaigns regarding Akbar. Banning polygamy while slavery is allowed definitely doesn't sound likely case. And also considering his reforms about restrictions on slavery was started when he was very young. Taking his overall profile into account, it is clear he intending to abolish slavery totally even if he failed to complete it. Also it is important tho emphasize that meanwhile religion was purely political in rest of the world. It clearly wasn't the case for his Empire considering only few people joined the religion founded by him. This is really pheonomenal though some academics considers it as just re-interpretation and consolidation of existing religions rather than a new one. Still this doesn't really matter.
Possibility of similar event in the Great Britain needs to be considered. This seems very likely in context of India because of the parallel between amount of participants divided into many tents.
I refer the region as India but Pakistan and Afghanistan are also part of this region. I didn't think about this much as doesn't really matter.
As a source on language deprivation experiments and this experiment I can refer you to this publication: Royal Investigations of the Origin of Language, Robin N. Campbell, Robert Grieve; 1982 (https://doi.org/10.1075/hl.9.1-2.04cam)
Note: Language deprivation experiment is not correct term even though it is current standard because humans use sign language even if it is limited to simple gestures like shaking the head…
